Day 3. Tehran – Shemshak
In the morning, you’ll drive along scenic roads into the Alborz Mountains to the mountain town of Shemshak, a popular winter sports resort. From there, you’ll continue on an unpaved road up to approximately 3,000 meters, where you’ll set up your tent camp for the next nights.
The camp is beautifully situated with breathtaking views of the central Alborz Mountains at the foot of Koloun Bastak – your summit goal for the next day.

Day 4. Summit Koloun Bastak (4150 m)
Today you’ll climb Koloun Bastak (4,150 m). The technically easy ascent over scree slopes begins early in the morning, before you can enjoy a magnificent summit panorama around midday. With a bit of luck, you’ll be able to discern the silhouette of Damavand’s mighty volcanic cone through the haze. You’ll descend back to camp. This tour is ideal for acclimatization and will benefit you during the next few days on Damavand.

Day 5. Gousfandsarai Base Camp (3000 m)
After packing up your tent camp, you’ll drive through the Alborz Mountains to Damavand. Along the way, you’ll make some final purchases for your summit trek before continuing on to the mountain village of Poloor. Here, at the foot of Damavand, is the mountaineering center of the Iranian Mountaineering Federation.
Unneeded equipment can be stored here before continuing on to Gousfandsarai Base Camp (3,000 m) by four-wheel drive. Along the way, you’ll have frequent views of Mount Damavand, at 5,671 m (the Damavand entrance fee is paid by the client on site). In the evening, there’s time for individual exploration.

Day 6. High camp Bargah Sevom (4150 m)
After a hearty breakfast, the ascent begins to the Bargah Sevom high camp (4,150 m), where, in addition to terraced campsites, a solid mountain hut is located. Here, you’ll spend the afternoon watching the colorfully decorated mules that will transport your main pack to the high camp. An optional ascent to higher altitudes is recommended for better acclimatization. (Walking time approx. 4-5 hours)

Day 7. Summit Damavand (5671 m)
Summit day! Damavand requires a good level of stamina and fitness. The approximately 1,500 meters of elevation gain can feel like a long climb—technically, the mountain is relatively straightforward. Since the descent follows the same route, the climb can be aborted at any time. However, the goal is the 5,671-meter summit of Damavand, where a commemorative plaque is located. The volcano is still active, as evidenced by the numerous smoking sulfur vents in the final meters to the summit. Circumnavigating the crater is also possible if you reach the summit in time. Descend back to the high camp (walking time approx. 8-10 hours).

Day 8. Reserve day or descent - return to Tehran
If you weren’t able to climb in the previous day, you have another chance today. The mules will be ready around midday, so you can begin the descent at a light pace and with only a small backpack. After a brief stop to transfer your luggage at the mountaineering center, you’ll return to your hotel in Tehran. The evening is a good time to recover from the exertions of the past few days or immerse yourself in the hustle and bustle of Tehran. (Walking time: approximately 3 hours).
